Wham! Your Work: A Peer Assessment and Feedback Toolkit

Wham! Your Work: A Peer Assessment and Feedback Toolkit

(0)
One day a student of mine said “you should make a toolkit the band Wham!” The rest is history. Wham! Your Work is a simple marking and feedback template designed to be used with students during peer assessment. Using coded marking students complete sections - ‘W - what went well’ and ‘H - how could you improve’. Once work is returned students complete sections - ‘A’ - apply your improvements and ‘M’ - move onto a stretch and challenge task. A very simple to use toolkit but highly effective method of structuring feedback. I always play some Wham! while completing feedback. The kids love to hate it. Science Themed Differentiated Name Cards

(0)
We all love to differentiate our activities in lessons but you are probably thinking I haven’t got the time to do this in every lesson? Wrong! Using these differentiated name cards you simply stick one on every child’s book and away you go. With 5 possible groupings you could differentiate by - mixed ability groups (number), same ability groups (letter), reading age (state of matter), behavior groups (colour) or mixed ability pairings for peer teaching (DNA nucleotides - As with Ts and Gs with Cs) - the possibilities are endless. Simply decide which student to put in which groups, modify the cards and begin. The 3 Wise Monkeys

The 3 Wise Monkeys

(0)
This teaching toolkit technique called “the 3 wise monkeys” has been designed based on one of my favourite proverbs “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. The idea is that students take on the role of the 3 monkeys: Mizaru, who sees nothing; Kikazaru, who hears nothing; and Iwazaru, who speaks nothing. It aims to promote challenge, listening skills, student interaction and peer teaching. Comes with student template to be adapted to any subject and any topic and teacher instruction sheet. Do I Really Understand? Better Note Taking : Whole School Assembly

Do I Really Understand? Better Note Taking : Whole School Assembly

(0)
Do I really understand? A whole school assembly promoting effective note taking skills. Suitable for any school, age or context. Students firstly learn the importance of effective note taking and are introduced to a few suitable methods to be used in any context. Students then try out their newfound knowledge in a competition style quiz around “how to become Pope”. The quiz is exceptionally difficult and only possible to succeed with good note taking. To be explicitly clear there are a number of videos you require to use this assembly that I cannot include due to copyright issues. However with a few simple searches (guidance provided) you should be able to find it! I have also included a transcript you could read aloud or ask students to perform if you’d rather not use or cannot find the video. Hope you find this useful. Interactive Challenge Wall Display

Interactive Challenge Wall Display

(1)
An interactive challenge wall which allows students to select multi-purpose stretch, challenge and extension activities suitable for any class, any age, any subject and any time. Features more than 25 activities suitable for any lesson. Although currently designed for use in a science environment it can very easily be tailored to your own subject with a few clicks. Challenge tasks are categorised into colour themes: red (to consider), green (to change), blue (to create) and grey (numeracy and literacy). Students visit the “choose your challenge” section, take a mini sticker task and away they go! Fully recommend for any teacher looking for an interactive display, highly praised by teachers, SLT and Ofsted inspectors.
